Well Sharon is still anaemic, and the vet is sure that there is some kind of internal bleed, and her belly is still distended.
On the good news she has a good shine to her coat, and is still showing an interest in outside pursuits. On the bad news she is not eating as much. She wont eat dog food at all, I tried pate to get her to eat the granules that will help her liver, but she knows its in the food no matter what i try. She is drinking a lot now which the vet says is down to the liver...
The vet told me in honesty tonight that we really just have to keep her comfortable, and as long as she is active and still eating something then that is all we can do. I asked her what would happen if she continues to have this internal bleed, and she said that eventually she will just have less and less energy.
She also said that had she operated on her to see what was happening inside, and found tumours etc that she would have suggested we PTS on the table, and that her life would probably have been less!
So all I can do is take each day as it comes and thank god for any extra time he can give me with her. I am just dreading the time that I have to make any decisions.
Just now she is happy and the vet does not think she is in pain, although she is tender around her belly. All I can do is give her all my love, and give her anything that she is willing to eat. The vet says it could be weeks or months....we just dont know.
One thing is for sure I will never allow her quality of life to get too bad, and as long as she is eating whatever, and still happy to come out with me to the horses then that is all I can continue to hope for.
I am thinking of trying liver with her and hoping that some extra iron will help the anaemia....even if its only in a small way.
So that is my update....not the best of news...
.....in fact its quite heartbreaking for us....
Its amazing how our animals can be so much part of our hearts.
