Shaving legs......

My horse's that is!
I've been doing this today. I am, however, finding the pastern/fetlock area really difficult. I can't get my clippers in position to cut upwards against the hair because the floor is in the way!
Anyone got any good tips?

I tend to find that, by pointing the blades at the floor and then moving them down towards the floor seems to get the majority of the hair off and then I can neaten them up after. Hope that helps

Pick the foot up and extend the fetlock then clip?

Just go against the hair. Mind you don't break the blades on the floor!

I pick the foot up in one hand and clip with the other. I find it alot easier that way.

I use some dog clippers to do mine - they are smaller and easier to guide round wiggly bits.

Either a small set of trimmers as the others have said, Train your horse to pick its foot up whilst you work, or consider buying a set of Mavericks. They have a clipping head which rotates through 90 degrees for this very specific purpose !

Thanks everyone! I did try picking his foot up but I found it very hard to get a good even pressure against the hair that way.
