Hi, would appreciate any advice on best way to trim long hairs from under cob's jaw - scissors, clippers or razor?! Also under the belly (unclipped). Just for a general tidy up. Thanks.
I use hand trimmers (the rechargeable ones), going against the fur, and not touching the skin - so you don't get the clipped look... I have done finer horses with scissors and comb, but it takesages with the hairy ones. You can combine the two, and put the comb in the fur, then clip the hair up to the comb... Never needed to do a belly, unless clipping properly, so couldn't advise you there.
get yourself some hair clippers ,the human type just from argos.
then you can use the guards to get the hair the same length as his shorter hair and a really neat and tidy finish.
start with a no 3 guard then if thats not short enough use a no 2
you will make a right mess with scissors and owch pull them out ,no need
I use rechargeable clippers with a guard on against the coat.
Run them up the chin and also catch the hairy backs of knees and hocks! Shouldn't leave lines, just start off on a large guard and work down to the length that blends but trims too.
