I'm moving yards and the stables only use shavings - what's the cheapest you can buy - can you buy in bulk? And how many bags do you need starting from scratch to do a deep litter bed?

If anyone knows a good supplier need Milton Keynes that would be useful

I use equi-bed which is £6 per bale.

I would use 6 to start a bed off and then probably use 1 or 2 per week after that. I never take out the wet - only the poops - or at least I take out the wet hard base probably around Xmas time - which is 3 months after the horse moved into it.

You need to leave the wet to make the 'base'.

I pay £5.50 a bag and i buy by the pallet load (30 + bags)

I dont deep litter but I do like a nice depth to my beds so usualy put down 6 bales initially in a 12' x 12' box with rubber matting so I only bed the back 2/3rds of the box (if that makes sense!) I only top up with about a bale a week except when I have mares + foals in when its loads and loads.....

Not near MK tho - soz!

£7.48 for 'cheap own brand' white shavings.
£8.09 for Easibed.

I use Easibed as a base layer for my shavings bed with 'normal' shavings over the top - it would take about 2 bags of each to start off with I reckon - possibly more in bugger stables though

I think you can get discounts if you buy pallet fulls(25-30 bales).

Millbry hill would deliver to you and they do pallet deals.
