Just after opinions 🤔
I have always been a shavings girl but I am very fussy on my shavings. The local bedding shop only has Mendip small and large flake shavings.
They do also have like all the Burley Bed options and I was wondering if thats just as good as shavings.? (It is cheaper!)
My questions are can you still make a cosy deep bed.? And do you have to deep litter.? As I hate deep littering and prefer taking the wet out everyday but I see burley bed recommend deep littering.

(Please do not suggest straw or pellets. I just dont like either)

I’ve never heard of it but looked it up and it’s miscanthus based so I would imagine it’s would be very absorbent. I don’t see why you couldn’t remove the wet everyday but my guess is it would clump together at the bottom so be easier to remove every few days and mean you throw away less clean bedding. Pretty sure you could make a decent bed with it though like with shavings.

I use Burly Bed light which is chopped rape straw and really like it. It’s very absorbent and makes a nice stable bed. I’ve done both remove wet every few days or every day depending on how wet the horse is and it works either way. I’ve also used a different brand Rapasorb which I also like. I don’t like miscanthus it smells funny and it makes me cough although I’ve never used the Burly bed brand of that.
