.......as some of you know we were meant to be making our xc debut on Sunday and Bovvy, but due to the ground being so hard i decided to pull her.
Schooled her instead and she went lovely. Did buck in canter a few times, but put that down to her being rather fit and well at the moment and the fact i was asking a bit more from her.
Walk and trot work was amazing and she is really coming on.

Well being a baby I like to have her back done every 3 months to ensure all muscles are developing in the right places.

She was out in her back on the right side of her lumber, therefore causing issues with her left shoulder.

After an hour she is now all corrected and freed up, she has to do the carrot stretches twice a day which i did with her anyway, and i now have to pull her right hind right forwards too.

She is coming back in six weeks to check her over again, but she thinks she'll be fine now.

I'm just amazed at how well she has been progressing still, even with a bad back. I expect i'd have noticed a little earlier if we had been schooling but hadn't schooled for two weeks as we were fittening up for xc.

This horse will do anything for me........

Sorry it's long, just wanted to share how amazing i think my baby is and how important it is to have regular routine checks and not just when there is a problem showing as some horses just grit thier teeth and get on with it. So glad i made the decision to pull her from xc now.

As bless her, just goes to show doesn't it! Lots of people may have thought she was being naughty bucking when really she was sore!
Horses always surprise me with how willing they are. Mine has been jumping 3ft3 courses bold and clear and doing well in dressage with a really sore left shoulder and a crooked back from a badly fitting saddle!
My last mare I was riding and jumping up untill she died of colic. When they operated on her they found her insides were a mess from worm damage caused by not being wormed as a youngster. She would have been in gradually worsening pain for years bless her heart and I wondered why she could be a stressy mare!

Glad you have your girlie sorted, she'll try even harder now :)

they can be superstars! bought my mare in october and she came with a saddle I knew fitted badly so gave her time off ridden work until I got a saddle that fitted, and had the physio out to her who said she was in so much discomfort she was surprised i'd even managed to get tack onto her :( - and you wouldn't have known anything from her behaviour. She couldn't bend properly etc but in terms of behaviour she was just the fab confidence giving horse I'd wanted. I love my girl so much! :)

Both of your replies involve hard core mares.....must have a high pain threshold like us females.

Always knew men were wimps!!!!!! lol (sorry guys)

Had my gelding done last night as well, he needed to be done and i knew this as he is more than clear in telling me it's time.

My mare was exactily the same.
Bad back, but carried on. Despite vets, saddlers, chriopractors coming to her.
Due to it she had to be PTS but she would have been in low grade but constant pain for years and she kept on trying bless her!!

Bug2007 - men are wimps!

I recently got my saddle reflocked as saddler said,
Rode in it twice 1 time being a hard jump lesson
4 days after went to put his travel rug on to go jumping and he wouldn't let me near him !! He is such a wimp!!

Because he has such a cheeky character I knew he wasn't right back man came yesterday and his poll was out and saddle had pinched his shoulders
He is fixed now :D back man touched his sore areas and he hated it after 10 mins of the back mans magic he felt the areas again after he had finished and he didn't bother at all!!

Basically when I got saddle he had less muscle on his wither area from previous ill fitting saddle and was told to get reflocked however his muscle had built up faster than imagined so big muscle and big saddle = sore and wimpy ponio :D
