She has gone and I'm devastated

So very sorry - its so hard losing them especially after all that time. You should take great comfort in knowing she was looked after and loved for pretty much all her life. I lost my mare after 16 years last year and i still get very upset when i think of her but i do know she was pampered until the end. Look afetr yourself xx

What lovely words. I am so very sorry that you lost her OP, it will be incredibly tough right now, but in time you will be able to talk about her and smile instead of cry.

She was one very lucky lady to have spent her whole life with you loving her, not many experience that, and you have done whats right by her, she hasn't suffered

Take care x

I am so, so sorry for you....it is the best and kindest thing we can do for our horses to take that final decision at the right time, which you did. I hope you will be able to look back and console yourself in that knowledge eventually, in the meantime I'm sending lots of comforting thoughts.

I can understand how you are feeling as I have had a beloved horse PTS in the past.It was heartbreaking. Having had your horse from such a young age must make it especially hard to bear. You gave her a long and happy life and you can only look to the future to maybe in time give love to another who would be fortunate to have such a caring owner.

So sorry to hear about your beloved girl. I lost my gelding suddenly four weeks ago and although i hadnt had him as long as you had your mare, its still heartbreaking. Take comfort from the fact that she had a long and happy life with you. Run free little girl x

Oh my goodness - such wonderful messages and so many of you dealing with heartbreak at losing your dear horses. It's not getting any easier at the moment - the daytime is the worst - empty yard, empty stable, empty fields. Thanks all of you - poor Bertolie who lost her horse just 4 weeks ago....and so many others. Can't thank you enough.
