Okay so i previously rode pony with no noseband and double reins on pelham which she used to go lovely in although very forwardd going, i went travelling for 6 weeks and came back to her and she is just a little mad leans and is very strong in it, a lack of brakes, which is highly irritating. Although she has always been extremly forward going and highly intelligent. I have now got her in a french link with a grakle which she goes quite well in, but she just wont walk or stop without falling out with her she is a very highly strung pone. although upward transitions are spot on her downward transitions have something to be desiresd, she is very talented and i sometimes think it goes to her head, as she does get more and more forward and sometimes explosive although not dangerous. any ideas on braking / walking, i try to ride very light but it becomes difficult if she starts to lean and fool about

Hi there,
My first consideration is the diet the pony is on as this may well be making her "hotter" than she really is.
You don't say if she is the same whether in the school or out on a hack. In either case I would say right you don't want to walk well you don't! Trot on but keeping the trot slow and steady, then canter work when ready. This could be hard work for you. Then when she is flagging and wanting to offer you walk say no I don't want it now trot/canter on. Only when you feel you will get walk and she will keep it say yes thank you very much, just do a short section then reward her by finishing the hack/schooling. Hopefully a few of these sessions and she will get the message. Alternatively when you want walk think uncoperative lead weight, so you are not moving with her and returning to way a complete novice just sits on the horse.
Hopely a combination of the above will help, also why not start/go back to the pehlam for the odd session if it gives you the response you want.
Hope this helps
