This morning I had a tele-a-doc appointment about the nausea and headache and nose ache since Freddie knocked the lamp on my nose. He wanted me to go to the emergency department at the hospital. Since we don't have universal health care here I'm waiting until Monday when I can see my regular doctor.
Just for a cost comparison my doctor=$25 copay. ER=$500 copay.

MrsMozart,

I'm the USA. I'm lucky that I have health insurance through work. I get some stuff free but emergency care is horrible. I was in hospital back in November and in a day program after that and the bills even with insurance are insane. I made the hospitals work out payment plans for me.
One of the leading causes of bankruptcy in this country is normally medical bills. Piss me off, this country is one of the wealthiest, if not the wealthiest in the world and people can't afford medical care, have to live on the streets and go to bed hungry.

Off my soapbox now.

You see, we don't even think about the cost of any health care procedure in the UK but we should because it ain't cheap!! For those that have animals, I guess they can equate it to vets fees but everyone else is clueless.

Hope you're OK and on the mend. It's fair to say, the only time I have ever needed a trip to the hospital in the last 40 years has been animal related. They are very dangerous :)
