just hear one of the local farmers was driving his sheep along a quiet road with his dog

Delivery driver comes round corner at speed. scatters sheep. Dog then tried to gather sheep. Van driver hit dog and ran it over killing it without trying to slow down.

Apparently he got out of the van having eventually stopped. Said "the dog's dead" and drove off

I know what I'd have done to him if I'd been the farmer. 🤬🤬🤬

Don't know which delivery company but we're quite out of the way and I've only ever seen DPD and Evri round here

Hope to god the farmer got his details and reported.

Dreadful thing to happen, one does wonder if there was anyone at the front to warn drivers coming the other way ? Clearly behaviour was bad by driver, but should farmer have taken precautions to ensure safe road use? Even is it was quiet?

I don't know.

I was out riding today. I was approaching a blind bend. I could hear a car coming fast. I got steady neddie (thank god he was) onto a small verge against a hedge. Car came round corner (which she couldn't see around) so fast all the water in the puddles flew up on me and horse. Her front wheels were on the edge of the verge I was on. She didn't stop.

I think if you're driving on country lanes you should bl***y well act like you care and slow down.

The same thing happened to a working sheepdog on a neighbouring farming estate a couple of years ago 😞. Dreadful!
When moving sheep down the road we always have someone up front in a vehicle slowing traffic down as despite it being a single track hill road people drive too fast. Not as upsetting as losing a dog but I hate it when we put the ewes back out with their lambs on the hill by the road as inevitable we lose some to people driving too fast.

That’s absolutely terrible, what an awful thing to have happen and to have witnessed.

I believe it’s against the law to hit a dog and then drive on? Surely that means there’ll be recompense, even if it doesn’t make up for the loss of a faithful companion.

That could easily have been a group of cyclists or ramblers he could have ploughed into, we can't all have someone upfront waving a flag.....drivers need to slow down and be heavily fined and have their car crushed if they drive like idiots
