Sheepgate EC (near Boston) has a 'Have a Go' show with some unaffil SJ indoors going up to about 3'.

It's a bit of a trek for me, hence the reason for never having been before - is it worth the trouble? What's the indoor and the warm-up like? Is it full of numpties.......?

If I remember rightly the indoor is quite small. I've only been for dressage and it is lovely, the outdoors are gorgeous and the shop and cafe are good too. I just remember it being miles and miles away and to be honest that is why I have never gone back.

Indoor arena can be quite tight, managed the turns on mine (just about). Warm up is in a 20x 60 school, its normally pretty dead so not too much of an issue. In trailblazers last year the biggest class size was only 10, so pretty short day.
They've got a fairly varied range of fillers, not sure if they'll use them and they only have wooden poles.
Hope this helps

I went to one of the outdoor 'have a go shows' through the summer to take friends baby horse for its 1st outing she popped round the working hunter there which was well run and a nice simple course. The schools are lovely and very well kept ( although didnt go in the indoor) and the cafe does lovely food ( most important thing!)
Alternatively Arena uk have got an indoor XC on sunday classes start at 65 cm i think.

Alternative again is Trent Valley (Notts side of Newark) They also have indoor XC this Sunday. CR starts at 9.30am.

I will be there for our second ever show, say hi if you see me! (And smile sympathetically)

Really useful information - thanks very much everyone.

Nina76 - I have been to TVEC (it's not that far down the road from me) but I find the collecting ring tends to get quite busy with kids on whizzy ponies, which do not help Poppy's state of mind!

m_g_h - thank you for that. Arena UK it is then! I'd completely missed that competition - and only 20 mins down the road - yay!

Good luck at Arena, we will need some more practice before I feel brave enough to go there.
Arena is popular with many of our yard, but we are still a bit novicey (?) at the moment, so we're just working on 2 local venues at the moment until she is confortable in those arena's....baby steps.
Whizzy kids don't seem to bother mine?? just random new things, I'm not expcting a clear round!
