Sheepskin? Benefits??

Was very tempted last night at HOYS by some lovely LeMieux sheepskin girth covers, but then wondered if I simply wanted to spend money

Do they have any benefits other than to horses who actually dislike being girthed up? Or am I just looking for an excuse to spend some money after all?
