Sheepskin numnahs - How best to clean!!!

All mine go in the washing machine then in the tumble dryer using the normal washing liquid I use for everything, except the Christ Horsedream one which I wash using their special washing stuff. All done at 30 or 40 degrees then tumbledried on low heat until fluffy. Nuumed ones have this on the care instructions, Roma one just survives it but has no care instructions, all get washed regularly and all are a few years old now and look fine.

People talk about using hair conditioner on them, not something I've ever needed to do as mine come up looking great using the method above.

Oooo! Where's MizElz when you need her?! She's the resident sheepskin queen! Hehe!

I wash my Numed one on 30 degrees with non bio powder and a cap of white vinegar in the fabric conditioner tray, then let it dry naturally and then brush through with a not too stuff brush, comes up beautifully fluffy and gets rid of the pink stain from the red mud we have round here!

I wash it in the bath by hand in lukewarm water with special sheepskin wash bought from the manufacturer. It was too expensive to risk in the washing machine!

we wear sheepskin numnahs twice a week out hunting - the best thing to do is put a thin cotton one underneath - we do this then wash them on a cold wash in the washing machine once a month!

Best not to tumble dry - although fine to put them in on COOL setting to fluff them up AFTER they have dried. Ideally use a liquid non biological wash eg Stergene designed for wool (powder tends to clog the fibres and causes that 'sheep' look rather than nice and fluffy). About 30 degrees is ideal. 40 OK. After spinning dry naturally if you can. We make them so I know the answer to this one off by heart!!
