Welcome to another chapter in our eventing story! This time we trekked off to Shelford Manor!
It was a lovely day spent in the Nottinghamshire country side
I've never been before, lovely venue and really well run event!
Beanz decided dressage was alright today.... lately he has thought otherwise!! but he produced what I thought was a lovely soft and willing test.... unfortunately the judge didn't agree and we scored a 37.5, it did leave us in the top ten so I guess she was just marking harshly!
Onto the dreaded sj, I really need to start enjoying this phase more.... maybe one day!! Short of it we clearly still had a case of 4 faultyitus from Friday night - we went out sj in the evening and we manned up big stylie and jumped our first ever 90 course!!! just had one down in each round! Anywho back to shelford; so just the one down to add to our dressage score! It's a pesky pole but on a whole the round felt so much better, more flowing and generally we were together as a partnership!
Now the fun part!!
I do love xc on this horse he just eats it up, unfortunately we did pick up 20 penalties BUT (and I'm not making excuses!) it wasn't a naughty stop it was a genuine baby/green hesitation, the fence in question was causing carnage in the 80 and the 90 it was a fairly decent size drop into a dark wooded area.... a question Beanz has never been asked before, he is such a dude though and did go first time he just needed a split second longer to figure out what was being asked so super proud of him for tackling it head on in a competition environment!! I do sometimes forget he is still inexperienced and just needs to gain mileage under his belt
So I guess on paper it sounds like a crap day but it wasn't at all!! I got to spend it in the sun doing what I love with an awesome little pony who always tries his heart out for me what more can I ask for?!
Sadly no pictures as i was flying solo and the pros weren't that great so for once i didnt spend any money!!
But i can add a link in to our xc video from Keysoe a few weeks back, i really couldnt resist getting it!! Enjoy!
