Ive always fancied having a Sheltie but not sure on their character.Anyone had Sheltie experience? I live in the middle of nowherish and have my own land plus 3 BCs (all female).I have very little contact with the outer world so to speak so Sheltie wont be overly socialised. Would I provide a healthy home for a Sheltie? Almost forgot, any hereditary illnesses to look out for? Cheers, Mairi.

I'm a member of a blind dogs forum, and there are a couple of Shelties on there, that, if memory serves me correctly, have progressive renal atrophy. I don't know how prevalent this is in the breed, but perhaps CERF eye testing will cover it.

They're such lovely dogs. One of my favourites of the smaller breeds.

bit confused her Prose, you mean the dogs are blind or the dogs are seeing eye dogs for the blind? Will google 'renal atrophy' and see what it says. Thanks, Mairi.
