Are they worth the money (£40)? What are the routes and parking like?

Are the permits per rider, per horse or per owner?

Not been over to Sherwood pines but other woods have designated horsebox parking (safe) and they let you know of any events running in the area (like the rally) etc. don't know if they help on the routes front, but doubt it - it's more interesting to find your own way about anyway. :)

You can ride nearly anywhere at Sherwood Pines. It's much quieter the further you get from the main visitor area, and on weekdays. Your permit also gives you access to Blidworth woods, Haywood Oaks and Wharncliffe near Sheffield which has great hills for fittening.
Well worth the £40 annual fee imho. I assume the permit is per rider, as you can only be on one horse at a time, but never checked!
An ordnance survey map is an essential, and I find a compass reassuring too!

Well worth it :) I stabled that way a few years ago, so know my way around, but you'll soon start to pick it up :)
