i turned my gelding out as normal and my mare was running up and down the fence (she stays out overnight whiles hes in) thought that was unusual. my gelding was going absolutley bananas, determined to get to her. popped her in the stable to see she was in season. normally she shows when the boys show and interest and she give a little squeal but she was out in her paddock squating and squirting and looked abit uncomfortable really. iv never seen her this bad, is this normal for this time of year. (first time mare owner) shes not in ridden work as shes abit of a madam when in season so i just rather her have a few days off then fall out with her.

I think you will find that several of us have had the same problem this autumn. Had put mine on Regumate, which sorted her out, but still calls to the gelding she fancies when he's walked past her stable and then gives the stable wall two of the best, put my young gelding in the stable next to her, they can all see each other thru the grills and she doesn't even look at him and settles down with her feed and haynet.
