Can anyone recommend somewhere for rugs for my mini men?

I am getting them back from loan and there wardrobe needs replenishing ?

Have to say although it's not ideal timing I'm looking forward to having them home again ?

Depends how small they are but northern miniature rugs or minihorsesales uk are great but quite short so if they’re leggy or more portly they can nearly be too short. Ruggles are good but longer skirts.ive also got a few top horse uk ones.

Mine has a couple of Ruggles which fit well and have lasted. I also like Weatherbeeta and Mark Todd foal rugs on him. Rhinegold rugs come past his knees so I wouldn’t my those for a mini Shetland.

Thanks I will have a good look tomorrow.

One is more traditional Shetland, chunky type and he is the hardier of the 2 and will probably realistically not be needing rugged, the other is definitely more mini horse (with a massive belly that needs dealing with!) kind of leggy, very fine, he has some issues and where we are going it doesn't have good natural shelter, is quite exposed and it is very wet west coast Scotland!

Ruggles or DInky for me
I keep being drawn to Ponyo, a new brand - because they do a monkey/banana print which would suit Ivan down to the ground, but I can't quite bring myself to spend £80 odd on a very small rug!

Maxima Equestrian is good for shetland rugs - they have fully adjustable front fastenings which makes it easy to get a good fit at the front and all their turnouts are 1200 denier.

I’d love to see him in that, maybe it will go in a sale at some point! ?

I must be the meanest Shetland owner on the basis the only rug mine wears is his sweetitch one! he has to be in them for the whole season so the minute he can be ruggless they are off and stay off!! He literally never wears a turnout rug or stable rug...

Mine never wears a rug either, despite owning a couple of turnout for emergencies. I’ve also just clipped him fully to try and hold off the yak coat to a level where he doesn’t overheat.

I am surprised that Shetland rugs even exist, given the efficiency with which they grow their own
The trouble is mini rugs are quite often cheaper and are so damn cute! I will admit to two turnout rugs and a Newmarket fleece even though it’s been worn once ?. I’ve also been given “my foal has grown out of this” rugs which I’ve duly passed along to something more in need.
Of course proper miniature horses, rather than shetlands aren’t so hardy so I would probably need them.

Biscuit was exactly the same for years but he’s around 27 now has Cushings and doesn’t seem to be able to control his body temperature so much , in the early spring When it was cold he broke out of his fenced off paddock twice to stand by the gate asking to come in so I got him this rug and he didn’t do it again ? it’s a 100g ruggles he’s so cute Love him ?

I have a HUGE selection of Shetland Pony rugs! Though I tend to use Derby House, Westherbeta and Horseware Amigos as the rest just don't fit around the neck - too small, I have big chunky ponies!

Although I hate the colour of this one ?

Was waiting for the "shetlands don't need rugs brigade" ?

They don't but some of us like to dress them up anyway ??? only 1 of mine is rugged year round and that's because he has sweetich. The rest are just temporarily rugged for cleanliness purposes ??

My Dartmoor wears more rugs than any of my Shetlands do - he is truly a woose when it comes to rain!

I got a ruggles for my mini last year. The only reason being was that she kept getting rain scald on the top of her back as she was so fluffy her coat wouldn't dry. She was clipped and put in a 50g rug. The fit looks well and is waterproof though I did find the rain did get quite far down the neck towards her back but that may have just been the pony standing face into the rain trying to scoff her face.
