Hi there, I have a shetland and a 14.2 pony and am thinking of adding another shetland to my herd next year. I am looking at getting a round bale feeder as they are out 24/7 and want them to have constant hay access without them trampling it all over the ground and also to save on time of having to fill it up twice a day like I have done previously. They live on my premises so I will have a constant eye on them, but with 2 young kids anything to save a bit of time and being covered in hay and rain constantly would be handy! He has cushings so I feed once a day to give him his pill so they are checked daily.
Anyway, I am looking at round bale sheep feeders but wondering if the shetland would get his head stuck! Anyone any ideas? The bigger the better without going too extreme! Have looked at a hay hutch but not sure 2.5 bales would last long enough, was looking at more like 4 or 5 at a time to fill it up with!
