So I've been thinking about a young Shetland for a while but now I start looking they have all disappeared!

So where do people buy their shetlands in Essex/Suffolk?

I went with my friend to pick one up a couple of weeks ago.....we are in Cambridgeshire....she told me it was in Birmingham....turns out it was nearer Gloucester!!!! In fairness we did go *near* Birmingham on the way!!!!

Good job he was super cute!

Mail order one from Scotland - Eric Gillies do a good delivery service too :D

Seriously, I got a friend-of-a-friend-of someone on HHO to look at a mini for me after I had seen photos, following an advert by the breeder. She sent me more photos, a bit of film & an email about the pony - conformation, leading up & general nature etc.

On her info, I popped a cheque in the post....same price as a average young colt down here, tho for a mature mare who is a little more than average

2 weeks later - bingo :D pony was delivered after travelling nearly 600 miles in 3 days. She is just the right pony, a real poppet - everything the breeder said she was & tho she has been with me 13+ months now, she feels like part of the furniture :)

Eric Gillies delivered ours too, she looked very out of place on a swanky huge lorry full of racehorses. :p

Eric Gillie moved two mini shetlands for me from Middlesborough to near Glasgow and it was not that expensive. Only around £100 I think although it was a good 7 or 8 years ago now.

I'm in the same boat as you! Thinking about getting a standard shetland to keep my boy company. What about redwings/WHW, EHPPS? they may have one. I'm looking further afield, there's a stud in Bedfordshire (can't remember the name though.).

I'm looking for a Shetland , preferably kid proof :p I'm in Swansea but if Transport is reasonable don't mind where it comes from lol

Such a shame, a friend of mine sold a lovely well handled one a few weeks ago from Pontardulais. I have three miniatures that I bought from Pencarnan Miniatures in Pembrokshire, depending on what you want them for but mine are fantastic natured and love attention from every body.

I live 2min from a stud in central Scotland. Friend also really into Shetlands. Would be more than happy to pick a nice mail-order one for you! ;)

Redwings and WHW nearly always have shetlands up for rehoming:)

I think Zippy looks adorable, plus she's closest to me :p Unfortunately though I'm not allowed any more! Good luck on finding one;)

Oh dear! I shouldn't have looked! Zennor Sorrel would fit in rather nicely with my current bunch of Southley bred chestnut broodmares ... Plus her height and bloodlines mean she will actually make a really cracking ridden pony! Grow her mane back and she could easily be shown ... Must ... Not ... Look ... Anymore!

Thank you all for looking and Kallibear and might hold you to that offer :)

I'd like either a youngster who I could show and break to drive later on or an established kids Shetland. I'm not fussy about colt, gelding mare etc I've borrowed a friends spotty Shetland at the moment and am in love but sadly he has to go back soon.

Knix stud park hhouse farm is where i got mine and he is a little star, they breed shetlands which are all registed. Although they are in the north, maybe you could arrange transport, search them n the net for a contact number.
