Has anyone fed Baileys outshine?
I am thinking about putting my horse onto it and wondered if anyone recommends it? Or if they didnt notice any change.
 
Ive just changed mine to this, so will be interested to hear thoughts...

I use it & really like it. I don't feed it for a shiny coat - though it's a nice bonus! - but because the oil seems to improve his dry skin & in turn seems to stop him getting mudfever.

I seem to get good results with a lot less than the recommended feeding rates. My 16.2 690kg ID has a fantastic coat & much better skin on 1/2 mug a day

i used it once, i had been given 2 sacks to try and to be honest i didn't get a good enough result to warrant spending nearly £30 on a bag, i use a coffee cup of good old soya oil instead now much cheaper and better results!
 
Why pay that price just to add shine? I use D&H multi vitamin, and it adds fab shine. If he wasnt overweight I'd also use a bit of soya oil or vegetable oil as that's good for shiny coats too.
 
I dont know if Im the only peson in the world who refuses to feed any hydrogenated oils to my horses just to give them a shiny coat. All the oils added to feedstuffs are hydrogenated and they are damaging to your horses general long term health. Ok off the soapbox but the feed companies have got us all conned. Whats wrong with linseed, boiled slowly to take out the toxins.

A few posters have mentioned linseed, is this fattening for the horse? As I am also looking to impove my boys coat condition but he cannot have anything remotly fattening.
 
I've seen a difference in only two weeks, my mare's winter coat is gleaming!! Thanks to peeps here on the forum!!

i yhink feeds etc take a while to get into the hairs.i think temperature,rainwater and seasonal changes have a lot to do with it.would be an interesting experiment useing a plasebo.i love my shetlands coat on a frosty morning!also my dog has the same diet day in,day out and her coat is changeable.she is just coming out of season and is v.shiney.
 
Viteman E is a good one for the skin so you need to find a feed with naturally occuring vit E. Stallions are always much shinier and they usually get fed extra vit E for fertility, but the testosterone plays a part too.
Linseed is conditioning .

yes it is possible to change coat/condition in a few weeks as jay has looked like the top pic all winter

My boys coat gleams all year even with his winter woolies...everyone comments on it and I only use Feedmark's Benevit all round supplement in Hi Fi chaff!!!

I use D&H all round multi vitamin in Hi Fi lite, and it works well too. IMO if you feed as simple as possible if you need to add something in particular then you can. I really do not rate these specialist feeds and adding lots of supplements on top. Alot of it is a waste of money and just gimmicky.

BOSS is black sunflower seeds,the kind you feed to birds

yes i deff see a shiney horse in picture2.thought my green boy in quite clean condition but was suprised yesterday when i re-hogged him how scurfey he was near skin.dont like to over groom in winter cos e out in day.

I went down to my local pet shop and the guy said i would be best to feed the heart of the seed? so without the black shell. Is he right? Or is the shell the important part??
 
shantihs coat is always mage shiney all year
she has a balancer and ad lib forage, shes a very good doer.usually on blue chip or similar,although whe i first got her she was just on restricted grass and soaked hay and was still as shiney.she is groomed everyday too
