I was just wondering if anyone knew what this event was like? It wasn't run last year so theres nothing about it in the Eventing horse trials guide thing or on Eventing Worldwide. I'd be looking at doing the intro as havent been out and about for a while.

Thanks in advance!

I have a friend who loves it there - thinks its a really lovely event. I have never been so no idea myself but know it was recommended to me.

Very nice, I really liked it. XC is very well presented and rides nicely.
The sj can be quite spooky though... remember they had a water tray in the Novice. (pretty rare for BE!)

hey, im hoping to go there too this year so would be fab if anyone has any info on it-wats the novice like? im hoping it will be the first one for my baby!

The Novice is pretty straightforward. There is a road crossing with a hedge either side, jump over a wall and down a steep drop, first water is at the bottom of this hill and I think if you go thee direct route it might be a skinny into it, but you need to have a bit of control from the steep drop.... then a couple of tree trunks sawn into rings a national hunt type hedge a coffin, back up over a wall, down over a wall into the bottom foeld again, thru the second water back up the hill then in the top field there is a farm yard complex which might have a corner, a few more walls, then back over the road crossing and a house I think. I've only schooled round it and my memory might be rubbish... but my poncy warmblood who had only been on a XC once before in its life jumped most of the novice fences

he he-great sounds good! yes mine is a warmblood too and not very experienced at XC yet but i am really hoping we will be ready to tackle the novice there...fingers crossed. thanks for all the info...is it open for schooling all year round or just after the event?

If you want a really lovely first Novice I can totally recommed Nutwell Court - I did PN and thought it was harder than the Novice!
I am going to Nutwell and not Shipton as going on holiday day after Nutwell.

Lec or anyone do you think it's unresonable to do Shipton Moyne and Nutwell? There is 3 days in between I think without looking it up
I did Shipton a few years ago and thought it was lovely.

Lisa i would think thats fine, as long as the ground is good

yes i want to do the PAVO there too, its a real shame nutwell isnt the weekend before it is scheduled to be on, then i could do that as a first novice if u say it is really nice lec, followed by shipton moyne. oh well, fingers crossed shipton moyne will be nice.
