Shires Muzzle

Yes I've got one. This is the only one I've found that will stay on my horse. I bought a (quite pricey) greenguard one which my horse can get off in about 5 mins! The shires one is great.

The Ring - Don't know if I'm supposed to - but I clip a lead rope to it to lead him to and from the field. Don't know what else it could be for tbh.

If you have an electric fence then cut the ring off as it can give a nasty shock .... as my poor horse found out

Well I thought maybe it was for that but then though it wasn't a great idea as its a quick release headcollar...

Thanks tho..

ooerr..I think I may well do that..thanks

I bought one for my gelding yesterday and he wore it for the first time today. He couldn't work it out at all. He kept looking at me longingly and wandering around the field, then stopping and sulking. I am sure he will work it out but I am a bit concerned I'm going to go over tonight and find he's conveniently lost it in the stream!

The ring is for a leadrope

Any pony I've had has managed to deposit the muzzle via the 'quick release' velcro within a short space of time, so i make a point of sticking a few stitches through the velcro now. It will still break in a real emergency... FWIW I never lead with the muzzle, I always pop a loose headcollar over the top as I think if the pony spooked en-route to the field the pressure stays on the muzzle part which wouldnt make matters any better...

Thanks all..

Yes Charlie..thats what concerned me! Not that my pony is prone to doing that and we're all enclosed anyway but it seems a bit like an accident waiting to happen to me..

Anyway...I've just left Holly with hers on and she's mightily peeved!!! I'm sure it won't take her long to work out though..she's a smart arse as well as a lard arse!!
