Hello.
Rug confusion!!!!! My golden oldie is 21 bless him. He is quite hardy for a tbx though, and extra fuzzy in winter if unclipped :D.

I want to get him a new heavyweight combo and I'm torn between the Shires stormcheeta and the Amigo Bravo 12.

Has anyone got these, or prefer one to the other. Feel like a bit of a bad mummy at the moment!!

I have a shires (cant remember which one but the hw in poppy red) and a Rambo supreme.

Out of the 2 my mare wears the Shires. It is much deeper than the Rambo and is a more generous fit. It comes up like new every year after being washed. Im a big fan of shires rugs, I think they're really good value for money.

Yeah, I am a fan of Shires rugs anyway, as I have a lw and though it has a few rips from the boys nipping and pulling it has remained waterproof. Hmmm Shires it looks like, though my friend has just bought a Premier Equine for the same price.

Choices choices.

May have to go with the Shires on the premise that he looks ever so handsome in poppy red!! :D

It really depends on the build of your horse.

My arab and anglo fit horseware rugs beautifully, so I would go for the Amigo for them. My well built NH TB with a huge chest and shoulders would probably suit the shires better.

They are both very good rugs, although the Stormcheeta has a tougher outer. :)

Well not exactly the rugs you specified but I just bought a new shires LW for my mare this weekend and I am really pleased with it, my amigo LW is in need of serious repair but I have still not done it. I found a decent priced shires rug at my local agricultural store so bought it, very pleased, seren looks very smart in red too :D

I have one and it is absolutely fab!! I got it after the Rambo I bought £200 leaked, then the replacement leaked too so got my money back and bought the shires. I also have the shire 100g which is fab too

Must say I have always bought either PE, Rambo or such BUT won't anymore

If I'd have answered this post a year ago, I'd have said Amigo every time. However, I bought a Shires lightweight instead of reproofing my Amigo lightweight again and I loved it so much I bought a medweight too. Loads of depth, loads of adjustment, really good value for money.

Shires rugs are in a different league to Amigo. Ours are into their third winter and still looking great. Amigos are fine, but nowhere near as good quality..

I do prefer the fit of the Shires. As the fit of the rugs was mentioned alot, I have to agree the Horseware was a tight fit in his size around the front. And I like a man with a hairy chest ;)

Definitley feel more confident choosing the Shires over the PE and Amigo now, knowing it's not just me being a fussy madam as some would believe!!:p

Amigo's fit my tb really well wheras I can't even get around my idxwb as he's got a huge chest and shoulders. The shires though fits my monster really well but absolutely drowns my tb! Never owned a shires, although I'v just bought a bridleway (shire's cheaper range) and I really like it! I have loads of amigo's and love them! :)

I have a couple of amigo's for my TB. They have been fine so far.. Allthough I wouldn't recommend for anything with a big chest - if he was any bigger it wouldn't fit!

Must admit I choose rugs by the colour! lol :D:D:D

I love both these rugs. I mainly have Amigos but i do thig the Shires rugs last longer and are alot deeper.
However my belgium warmblood broodmare wears Amigo rugs with absolutely no problem, even when heavily pregnant.
Both good quality rugs so i guess it's personal preference
To give u one more option - the Premier Equine rugs are lovely and very roomy

the 2000 denier ballistic outer is definitely winning it!! With two boys who like to throw each other around by the rugs, when out. If they rip that then Shires should start again!! :D:D

I do prefer the red anyhoo.

Decision made!!! :)
