Shires Saddles

If i am honest, they arent worth the money, they creak alot after a few uses, shift in the gullet and you shift in weight and i noticed alot of the time after a few mins working in the one i had, it would suddenly be on her spine/wither, saddler said this was typical of this saddle (this was my last mare not current one)

I looked at these too as I'm looking for something suitable for a young horse until I get a leather one fitted etc, I read alot of bad reviews about them on another forum, having said that there seems to be equally as many people who were happy with theirs!!! They must be like marmite, love em or hate em!!! But the general downsides seem to be pinching at the wither and shifting as the plate constantly alters etc. So I've decided against this saddle for myself.

They are made in India and it isn't just Shires who sell them. The fittings are very cheap, you only get what you pay for so could be false economy to buy one but people still like them and want to buy them.
Oz :)

Barge pole comes to mind I'm afraid!

She's be better trying to find a 2nd hand Thorowgood as a temporary measure, the high wither ones are fab for TB's :)

Friend had already ordered one. Rode in it today. Said it was comfy and didn't move. Horse was walking out and seemed comfortable.

So, if it continues, she'll keep it until the horse has muscled up, then get a 'proper' one :)

Thank you for your input folks :)
