I recently purchased this rug for approx £100 and am not v. impressed to find that my horse is continually coming in with the neck flapping in the wind :(

I don't think the velco's up to much. You can feel the effort it takes to undo velco and this one doesn't take much when I undo it and obviously he has the knack.

I bought it from Saddlery-Online.co.uk and they say I will have to post it back to them, they will send it back to the manufacturers who will test it for me and I will only receive a refund if their tests say its not up to standard. I'm guessing it will be up to their standards - just not mine so I would be doubly out of pocket then with the further postage costs.

Saddlery-Online say they've sold lots and never had a problem. Anyone else had this?

V. disappointed.
 
Is it possible another horse is pulling it off? It's just that our youngster hangs onto the neck of another horse's neck rug and the horse ends up wearing it like a snood. It's an expensive make of rug too.
 
ASMP - he plays with his mate so there is a bit of that. I am sure its them playing that pulls it undone. Its just that none of the other rugs I've had on him have come undone like this. I would have thought it would stand up to this bit of abuse better than it had. Bloomin' rugs and bloomin' horses!
 
I have a blue, older style Stormcheeta and it has two clips on the neck section as in this photo. If you like your rug, why not have a couple of clips sewn on to replace the velcro?

In my experience, Velcro on neck covers is a waste of time with geldings anyway. On our yard the mares never come in with anything undone, but the lads, now that's a very different story! I run a yard from home so get to see a lot of the antics that go on in the field and I regularly see horses being dragged around by their rugs in the name of play! It's hilarious to watch, but very annoying for the owners but the only way round it is to graze them individually I guess? I would think this is what's gong on with your chap for sure? Fasteners of any kind just do not come undone on their own unless they get broken somehow.
 
Thanks v much for the replies. I have admitted defeat for a bit & he's in a tattered medium with light underneath While I regroup. Think the clips are a good idea - just pondering if I will have a go myself! In the meantime maybe ... just maybe... they'll grow up ;)
