Shires stormcheeta combo rug.

I got one in January for my old horse and i did really really like it as it was so thick and cosy, but it rubbed away his mane at the bottom of his neck.

I plan to put it on my new mare but i was just wondering if anybody else had this same problem?

I have had that problem with all built-in-neck rugs that I have used. Everything fom Rambo to Shires, Wetherbeeta to Mark Todd. I think its just the way the neck rubs when they graze (or perhaps I have horses with odd necks?)

Last year I put lycra hoods under the TO rugs and this stopped it happening (also kept horses cleaner) so will be doing that again.

I found with my rug with a built in neck that it rubbed the majority of my mares mane away. This year I have just bought a rug with a detach-a-neck system. Fingers crossed it will stop the rubbing.
