shires tempest 100-weird sizing

I ordered a 5'9 for my mare as she usually fits in that size perfectly. Robinsons ended up sending a 6'9...it says on the label inside rug but my reciept still shows I ordered a 5'9. I tried it on my mare on the off chance it would fit and it did! Ive never used shires rugs before...is it normal for them to have such a weird fitting? I dont know if it is a 5'9 with the wrong label in? But it definitely fits her properly.

I have that rug in a 6'9 for my horse who usually takes 6'6-6'9 so id say come up a touch smaller but not that much! Perhaps you got a dodgy labelled one

Are you sure it says 6'9? Sometimes Shires measure in inches or something else so I sometimes think I'm getting the wrong size.. Our huge 17 ISH fits 6'9 and his rugs would have drowned our cob who took 5'9..

Sounds like it's wrongly labelled I have these rugs for my ponies they are a perfect fit true to size I found

That could be actually! As ive never used shires before...I wouldnt know how their sizing is. Its probably in inches then. Didnt think it could be a 6'9 as like you said it would drown my mare. Thank you!!

I would guess the 69 is referring to inches as 69 inches is equivalent to approx 5foot9 alot of my pony's rugs say 5ft6 or 66inches.

Apart from the fact that if it were in inches it would actually be 75 inches. A 6 ft rug is 72 inches .

I have the shires rugs for my boys and they are true to size normally, however I bought 2 of the 6ft 3" last year and found that one of the front clips was on completely the opposite way round to the other one ...............

I bought a 5'3 for my boy who is normally in a 5'6 (it was in the sale, couldn't resist!) and it was a perfect fit actually!

There is definitely a link though as I remember thinking I'd ordered a 6'9 for my 5'9 cob, and I hadn't it was just how it was measured.. They seem to be measured normally now on their website. Perhaps it's an old label? You're going to have to go and check it now!

69" is 5'9". My friend was forever buying 69" rugs thinking they were 6'9"..........and ended up giving them to me as mine are all 5'9"
