Shires turnut rugs?

I find them pretty good for the money. The only rug I've had more than one winter out of for my rug trashing 4 yo! Quite a generous fit round the chest - again the only budget brand which has fitted a CB, a wide chested TB and the elephantine 4 yo mentioned. Never had any waterproof issues. I like the half necks although recently they have been like hens' teeth.

Mine hasn't had a lot of heavy rain yet (only bought it a couple of weeks ago) but so far so good. Quite generous at the front, as Nudibranch said - it gapes a bit around my narrow-chested pony, but I'm hoping he'll find it encouragement to fill it with muscle ;)
Only ever heard great things about them.

I have some a few years old that are still waterproof and the 100g is a very useful rug

The only thing I don't like is the Tempest ones are an inch or two short on depth, I don't like to see my pony's tummy when he is rugged up (possibly quite irrationally) so a tiny big deeper would be good

I have a heavyweight Typhoon one and that is a really fab rug, can't fault it

thinking of ordering a Shires Tempest Lite Combo... just wondered if anyone had any experience of Shires turnout rugs are whether they are any good? What is the fit like and are they very waterproof?

Thanks :)

being a Fal fanatic I brought the Amigo and hated it, bad fit on my big chested boy and leaked after 1 year, so needed a new lite weight ......................so looked elsewhere for the buckles Like - which Fal has and this one popped up so I brought it and !!!!!!! I LOVE IT and my boy is wearing his now - velcro very very sticky. 10/10 for this rug

To add

you won't be dissapointed

Love these rugs! Work at a riding school and all our ponies have one. They last well with all the drama in the field and never get too heavy when it rains. Definately worth getting one!

Thanks for all your replies - I'm sold!! Shires products are generally really good quality, so it;s greta ot hear their rugs are the same :D.

Will be ordering today :)

Another fan here! I have 3 Shires rugs now and have just ordered another for the collection - the Tempest Combo 100g as I wanted something between a no-fill and and a MW. I ordered from ebay however I find Barnstormers prices are usually pretty competitive.

They're great rugs. We have 2 big Irish sport horses and all of their outdoor rugs are Shires ones, great fit and they wear really well.
