Shivering after exercise?

Sprocker has been to the vets this morning and I haven't really got any answers. And I'm quite confused by the answer I have got.

Essentially we've ruled out infection.

Symptom is shivering like he's cold after short bouts of exercise. Which seems to go on for much longer than whaf I would say was normal for a cold dog warming up.

Vet suggested hypoglyceamia. But all the lifestyle management suggestions he made we pretty much already do. These are very short walks! 20 minute croft blasts. He already gets 3 or 4 meals a day because the other dog's digestive issue. The only thing I could do is change timing of feed and give him a higher energy feed.

He has neither gained or lost weight. He is not excessively thirsty. He has the same huge appetite he always has. There have been a couple of walks a while ago where he seemed to go uncoordinated and like he couldn't hear me but didn't tell the vet that because I've only just remembered! He had done some hard running on a ploughed field and it was warm when that happened. Just thought he'd overdone it and got too hot so made sure he cooled off and he was fine in very short order.

Vet didn't make it sound like there was anything that needed investigating but have come home and looked it up and it seems like there is?

Do I need to get him somewhere for a second opinion?

I was trying to say that he's just running for 20 mins tops not doing mad big walks to the vet but I'm not sure he got that.

Dog presents to vet as extremely fit, slim, low heart rate etc. He's happy and active and looks really well. Especially for being 10.

So I just don't know what's going on with him.

Could it be stress/excitement/anticipation/build up in drive? One of mine shakes bodily before beginning a track (well, he used to, hasn't done one since 2018 lol) or before and during anything he particularly liked doing, really.
A second opinion wouldn't hurt.

I don't know. He does shake when he's excited before a walk... but it's it going on for over an hour after finishing a walk that has caused my concern. He's shivering in his crate as he's drying off. Like he's really cold. But the room is warm. If I put his jumper on he's better but it just seems like a really OTT reaction. Like he's been out for a 3 hour cold wet fell walk rather than a 20 minute spin round the fields.

He's got form for this from his whole life to be fair. But usually after stupid walks in the real cold. It's why he has a jumper to put on!

Could you put the jumper on during the walk unless you are already? I'm surprised the vets said it's fine without a more thorough assessment

He gets himself utterly disgustingly muddy and wet on any walk so a waterproof suit would be a better option for during walk wear! He's the kind of dog that would find a muddy puddle in the Sahara.

It really could just be that he’s getting cold. Pop a drying coat on him after every walk to see if it improves things.

It could just be him getting cold. I perhaps need to let him jump in the bog then put his jumper straight on for the rest of the run.

It just seems like he is excessively affected.

I did once, many years ago, have to wrap him up in 3 coats including a down jacket and have him on the front passenger seat of the car with the heaters on full blast to get him warmed up... he had been swimming himself to exhaustion in Windermere in May then though...
