Bought little man in after a night in the rain and he's shaking like a leaf, tensing his stomach up and is so fluffy. He trotted all the way up to his stable. He feels ice cold bless him. Popped his waffle on him and a fleece. All this for a traditional cob! Anyone else got an absolute pansy for a pony?

Yep, my NF pony has to be rugged a lot, as she acts like a TB, shivering & shaking lots, at the slightest bit of cold rain. Our Dartmoor on the other had, ha, the toughest pony ever!

traditional on the yard I work wears full neck mw at night in summer - currently in and rugged up to his eyeballs. I thought it was a bit OTT but as soon as there's the slightest breeze or a drop of rain poor cob is visibly shaking and miserable. Never seen a more pathetic creature :p hacking out in rainsheets today for sure - he's more of a fair weather type!

If I got my cob tacked up now I'm sure you'd see happier ponies on one of those rspca adverts!

I am debating leaving him in for the day as he would be on the reluctant side, even if it were a 20 minute plod around the lanes to stretch his legs! Just need to decide if I feel worse about getting him slightly soggy or boxed in from 8am til 8pm!

My welshie is a complete wuss! If she's in her stable and thinks she isn't warm enough she'll pull all her rugs down off the wall (only ever does it if I've put less than her usual rugs on). She also shivers if she's wet/rained on, including after having a bath in the middle of summer on a warm day!

Mine have been coming in at night for the past week. My horse decided that he has had enough of out 24/7, it is raining quite a lot and the hours of darkness are longer = nice comfy stable to lie down in please. He really doesn't like being out in rain and cold and will come and stare at me over the field fence into the kitchen window and then pace up and down and stand by the gate. Could it be any plainer?

yes my 30yr old! she's always been a warm horse. I knew we were expecting rain last night, so I put her in the field shelter with the 2 fatties and thought she'd be fine! but she was cold this morning! so she now has a 200g rug on and is out eating happily! bless her!

Ive been bringing mine in each day to give a break from the never ending driving wind and rain. My Tb gelding has had a lw on a lot but my mystery draft x gelding has been unrugged til today when I noticed him shivering, bought them in for most of the day and both have lws tonight.Tb has a lw combo.
