My 8 year old tb lives out through the summer 24/7 with my pony. Went to fetch him from the field this morning to feed him his breakfast and he was shivering an awful lot. I put rugs on him and walked him round, after about 45 mins he eventually seem to slow and stop the shivering.
Hes had no rugs on in the field for the past 4 - 6 weeks. This morning it has rained quite abit so he was soaked through and its alot cooler (13 degrees).
Almost a week ago he was diagnosed with navicular so had been having bute, navilox etc so lots of new drugs.
Hes now back out (he refuses to come into the stable in summer!) in the field with a medium weight Rhino turnout rug on with neck cover, and i'm going to check him again in an hour or so.
Just wanting your opinions on if you think it was just a combination of the wet and colder temperature which caused the shivering? His whole body was shaking, legs, neck, body etc.
