When I was in Jollyes today, failing to find a backpack for Spuds to try on (just ordered one, huzzah!) I saw one of these and was wondering if anyone had tried them. Normally I would have No Truck with such Fripperies (:p) but I was thinking that it could be just the thing for when he is attached to me hands free and we are both scrambling around on rocks.:)

It's either that or I'll get an Ezydog stretchy lead extender, but the clip is cheaper, I can afford one of them before we go to Wales:D Don't want to risk it letting go at a critical moment though!

Never tried them TBH, is it for hands-free work? With leather leads I find they have enough give in them anyway, the only time one has ever broken on me involved an unfortunate incident where it got wrapped around the wheel of a car. And it was 20 years old :p

See, I was going to favour his nylon police lead over the leather one as the leather one is relatively heavy... will have to have a trial run with both.

It is for hands-free, over this kind of terrain:

so he doesn't get popped in the neck so hard if he takes a slightly different route to me!

Won't do him any harm :p you on the other hand might come a cropper :p
What does it look like, sorry for being a numpty but I have a hard time imagining it.

Did our first ever official training for the AD yesterday and while he was good on a short lead I was wondering what would happen if I attached myself to him :o

It was weird, it was like a normal trigger clip, but attached to a big spring! I didn't look too hard as it wasn't what I was looking for at the time.

TBH he was off lead over that stuff, but if there are sheep about or we near to a drop then that isn't an option and I need a way that I can keep him safe while not breaking my neck:D

ETA found a pic!

I think it would be a bit surplus to requirements, TBH I can't see it making a huge difference but there'd be no harm in giving it a try. I have something similar attached to the big corkscrew stake for tying-up.

PS I hate the idea that it would be used to stop a dog pull, er, in what way, any 'give' will assist the dog, not the handler! But I know that isn't what you are using it for :D

Oh no, he can walk to heel fine on level ground, but going over that stuff makes it a tad tricky for all involved!

Henry has a rope lead on his tie-out stake (I have so many leads!:o) which has just the right amount of give, but it is a bit too short for these purposes:rolleyes:

ManMat bungee lead best used in conjunction with canicross belt for ultimate hands-free snootling. :)

Phil at Culpeppers will also make you a bungee lead in any length or colour, really good quality stuff, he's a total crackpot but knows what he's doing. :D Though he will probably warn you to use a harness rather than a collar, he told me some horror stories about whiplash-style injuries from using them with a collar, though admittedly these were hard-pulling huskies and not obedient little spangles.

My sister got something similar in Oz for her fatbrador!! :DThe one she got is encased in nylon so it looks like a lead - the reason she got it was so the girls (11 and 13 at the time) could walk the dog without getting dragged around to much when cats popped up (there are loads where they live!:rolleyes:) it just means they have a bit more control - and she gets an extra bit of give before pinging back!!:D

Obediant little spangles???

Seriously though, thank you for the link, one to bear in mind before the Big One I think:)

ROFLMAO at NN

:D

Mind you, there's a gap in the market right there, a combination lead and corkscrew/bottle opener:p

Definitely think BC's links are more useful! But not as good for opening plonk :p

NN did you not think it unusual that there was a corkscrew for sale in a pet shop?!

I must ask if those belts are permissable for the AD, what with me being unable to do two things at once....

I just thought they were very well informed about the trials of owning a spangle and knew it involved a splash of wine from time to time... :o :p

Seriously, I have no idea where it came from - think it might belong to landlady? The joys of renting - unusual things tend to pop up (there is a stripper pole in our loft too! Not ours! :D)

There was a disco ball left in my house, I popped over before I moved in and my landlords were just cleaning the place out. They didn't know what it was, bless 'em:D

They had taken it away when I moved in though:(
