I have a few spinal issues and I wanted to try using a shock pad seat saver.
I used a heather moffett back saver for my horses but wanted something that may help me too.
Does anyone have any recommendations? Would also like it to be dressage legal.

I have the acavello gel out and it's brilliant. No back pain when I'm riding and it sticks me to the saddle when baby horse has his moments and seems to stop any jarring. Have the normal and the thicker one and am very pleased with them
 
I had an acavallo gel out (the normal one, not the comfort - thicker - one) and it didn't work for me. I was very disappointed after reading so many good reviews. The HM didn't do anything for me either.
 
I've also got the acavallo gel in and it is very comfortable. I previously had a heather moffett seat saver, which was comfy but a bit bulky. I use it for my seat bones though, not back pain, so I can't really comment on its effectiveness for that.
 
I have the acavallo gel out , the normal one and the thicker one. The thicker one is much comfier , I find it very shock absorbing and my aunt uses it for her bad back. I find them grippier than a normal saddle but not in the slightest bit sticky, wouldn't stop me coming off easily in a good buck or spook anyway.
 
Acavallo gel out for me too. Not for back pain but for seat bones - made a world of difference. On a slightly more embarrassing note, I also used to suffer with painful boils at the very top of my inner thighs (compromised immune system so I'm prone to them)... made riding really uncomfortable but not anymore :D
 
acavallo gel for me, I had a major op in march which causes back pain, this seat saver has not only kept me on board a few times when horse being tricky, but I do find my back is not quite as sore... I am not sure for spinal issues how much it would help and wouldn't say it is "shock absorbing" but it is very comfortable and if your back is hurting we are often not as balanced as we should be so it definitely helps that!!
 
I had the HM one, but I had to sell it as it didn't work for me, in fact it made the saddle more uncomfortable. I like a sheepskin seatsaver, but that is for comfort, not to help with any back pain.
 
Unfortunately I have found that there are horses out there who have movement that is just too jarring for my back. No seatsaver will help for this and I did have to stop riding one particular horse because of it. :(
 
I've got a Feedmark seat saver which is the same as the Heather Moffatt one. I tried using it on my horse's GP saddle and hated it as it felt too bulky under the top of my thighs, although my part loaner loves it.

However, I have recently been riding my daughter's bigger moving horse while she is out of action due to a badly damaged ankle and, because I was struggling with the bigger movement causing backache and also sliding around too much in the bigger saddle, I thought I would try the seat saver and actually found it brilliant on her. I assume the different feel I get between the 2 horses is that my horse is quite narrow whereas my daughter's horse is wide so I guess my legs are wrapped differently round the 2 horses.

Anyway I guess what I am saying is that it would be worth trying to borrow one first to see how it feels to you on your own horse and saddle before buying one if you can.
 
Another one here with Acavallo Gel Out. I have the Heather Moffat one as well. I felt a little bit detached from the saddle in the HM one, and much prefer the Gel Out as it's thinner and seems to mould better to the saddle seat. It's also handy for keeping you attached to the saddle during unexpected airs above the ground!
