As above really- probably shouldn't ride anymore but hey ho. Left ankle broken 3 times and MRI shows cartilage breakdown and loose kneecaps on both knees which is currently causing too much pain to ride. Traditional irons are out as the weight hurts my ankle. Any thoughts?

We use the original Sprenger flexi irons - absolutely brilliant for sore leg joints. I really notice if I ever use plain irons - my knees ache really badly.

I've been using Compositi Reflex stirrups for the last few months on the advice of my saddler. He could have sold me Sprenger flexi irons- that is what I'd asked him for, but he told me to try the Reflex ones instead. They're not pretty, but are ever so comfortable, more so than the old Sprenger ones I'd wanted to replace.

As above. I actually swapped my Sprengers over to the Compositi Reflex on many recommendations from here and they are great, especially considering the low price.
My Sprengers are more aesthetically pleasing, but the Compositi do a grand job of easing some of the joint pain.

I use Sprenger for knee pain and they are great for hacking. I am not sure how they would work for ankle pain.I bought mine off ebay at a fraction of the cost so might be worth a look there.

I have the Shadow Horse ones for knee pain and they are brilliant. Can't talk about how good they are for ankles as fortunately I don't have that problem.

Flexi stirrups - go for the proper ones I'd say - my cheap £20 dupes aren't very good.

I've found with all flexi stirrups that they make me really unbalanced and throw my leg out of place. Only seems to be me - but something to remember!
