Shock diagnosis

Thank you for the hints and tips! Mixing crushed tablets in a couple of spoons of yoghurt with honey is far better than trying to swallow horse tablets!
I am ten years post menopause, and to be honest, wouldn't like to awaken the sleeping dragon ever again. If I can maintain a reasonable level of balance and fitness, and stay active, then I will be happy with my lot. Mum had hormone dependant breast cancer, as did one of her relatives, so HRT would not be a prime choice.
Interesting that most women are diagnosed with osteopenia following a DEXA scan, but there again, there is a reason why we are referred in the first place, and I wonder if a random scan of, say, 5,000 women would turn up a different result. On chatting to a midwife friend, she was a bit dismissive, saying 'we probably all have some degree of osteopenia after a certain age, keep taking the calcium/D3/magnesium and zinc.' Part of me is now overthinking, and wondering whether the decline in bone health is inevitable despite best efforts?

Lucky you - I've been recommended to start skipping or star jumps......like that is going to happen! I've already got arthritic knees from riding. No hope for us is there? And the calcium tablets are like half the size of a AAA battery and I have four daily. I've had to start crushing them on a honey sandwich.
I was told walking and running, or any weight bearing exercise, but because I have Long Covid I don't tolerate exercise well, so yoga was recommended 🧘‍♀️

Having broken a finger bumping it off Dave's shoulder a couple of years ago & 6 ribs in a fall last month, I have decided I should be looking at my bone health.
Has anyone tried this?

Update to the bone health. My GP decided that as I was just about on the measurable scale for osteopenia, I only need to take half the recommended daily dose of calcium etc., but continue getting as much exercise as possible. Great - I now have a stress fracture in my foot! The bone team said they didn't think it was related to the previous diagnosis, more likely to be caused by exercise. 🤬🤬🤬

Surely, yes the fracture was caused by exercise but the exercise wouldn't have resulted in a break if it weren't for the osteopenia. I broke a metatarsal falling off the kitchen step! Fortunately it healed well.
