Thank you for the hints and tips! Mixing crushed tablets in a couple of spoons of yoghurt with honey is far better than trying to swallow horse tablets!
I am ten years post menopause, and to be honest, wouldn't like to awaken the sleeping dragon ever again. If I can maintain a reasonable level of balance and fitness, and stay active, then I will be happy with my lot. Mum had hormone dependant breast cancer, as did one of her relatives, so HRT would not be a prime choice.
Interesting that most women are diagnosed with osteopenia following a DEXA scan, but there again, there is a reason why we are referred in the first place, and I wonder if a random scan of, say, 5,000 women would turn up a different result. On chatting to a midwife friend, she was a bit dismissive, saying 'we probably all have some degree of osteopenia after a certain age, keep taking the calcium/D3/magnesium and zinc.' Part of me is now overthinking, and wondering whether the decline in bone health is inevitable despite best efforts?
