Took the boys to the vets today, routine check up for teeth and jabs... well its cheaper for me to take them their than them come to me.....

Offered a go on there newly aquired scales.....

scored as a 3 minus.... tb - weight tape of 425kgs.... real weight of 547 kgs OMG !

big lad scored as a 4 minus..... weight tape of 603kgs...... real weight of 756 kgs

me well the scales would not take such a weight lol !

Just goes to show what we are lugging round in out horse boxes - thank god I am still under weight box wise, but just goes to show how easy it is to be wrong.

I was just thinking about the accuracy of weight-tapes yesterday, i took my little 3.5t ldv convoy horsebox conversion to a public weigh-bridge and was pleasantly suprised that it came in at 2450 with 2 people and half a tank of diesel. I weigh-taped my tb x as 468kg so i should be totally fine......i only plan on travelling one (despite protestations from friends that i could take the weight for two:rolleyes: i just dont think i could- legally!) Interesting that the tape was so far under for your two.....re-enforces my thinking that anyone traveling 2 decent sized horses in a 3.5t has to carry nothing else with them at all to be legal, but are normally probably over the weight limit.
