went with daughter to look at an ex-racehorse last Thurs evening - not what we wanted but was nice enough.

Anyway, her feet looked a little long and so I asked the seller when she was last shod -

"Oh, I can't remember, these shoes have lasted really well cos I've hardly ridden her lately - they were put on before Christmas" !!!!!!!!!!!!

:(:(:eek::eek:

My farrier told me some time ago that one of his customers thought shoes lasted about six months and was most put out when the farrier corrected that idea!!!

Thats terrible :(:(

I admit, i have bought a few horses over the years with horrendous hooves, it really does make you wonder how many owners generally dont realise how often they need doing (plus they must also need an eye test!)

Maybe a call to WHW is needed? they may be trying to sell the animal on but even so, its hooves shouldnt have been left that long.

My Spanish neighbour told me I was an idiot for getting the farrier out every 7-8 weeks. Told me horses only ever needed their feet doing twice a year!!! He refused to believe me when I corrected him, because he is Spanish and therefore knows best! Ignorant old fool :mad:
