Well Spyda, I too have experience of working with mental health issues particularly in young men, and attitudes like this, where people assume that anyone who does anything irrational must be caused by them having a mental health problem is offensive. People struggling with their mental health are often disadvantaged and discriminated against by people in the wider community. By assuming that someone who has committed a crime is mentally ill just adds to the general perception by the uneducated masses that anyone with a mental illness is capable of committing a crime of violence.
