I have my farrier due on Sunday coming but one of my lads hearbar shoes has come off in the mud! He has heartbars on as had laminitis with slight rotation in one fore back in September.
The shoe that has come off is the one off his good foot...the one that did not have any rotation at all.
He is all clear on the pain and laminitis front but my problem is there is no way I will get my farrier out prior to the weekend and I work full time too. Do you think he will be ok without it until Sunday???
He is in at night on rubber matting and shavings and out on strip grazed grass and mud during the day.

No...he will not get round to returning my call for a couple of days and I would have to take un-paid time off work anyway as horse is not on a yard but a field with field stable with no elec so it would have to be daylight hours.

Phone your farrier to ask for his advice. If he doesn't answer maybe call your vet (who I assume worked with your farrier when your horse had Laminitis) for advice. If your vet feels the horse needs the shoe on, he may be able to get your farrier out as an emergency, or give you the number of another farrier who may be able to put the shoe back on.

do not panic... he will be ok till sunday....only hard ground would cause him difficulty... not much liklyhood of that at the moment...

Ditto. Or even stable if you feel unsure about it.

I have spoken to my vet and she said he would be fine until the weekend as it is not his 'bad' foot. He will be stabled tomorrow anyway as they have given out frost and he is not allowed out on frost due to his laminitis problem.
