How much does your farrier charge for a shoes all round plus a stud hole in each one

Our farrier retired a few months ago, and have since been quoted £66 plus £5 a pair of stud holes for the above - he was about £55 for this IIRC

I'm in NW Kent/NE Surrey borders, and pay £60 a set, with natural balance in front, road nails and 2 stud holes. I have used the same farrier for around 10 years and believe he charges new customers a bit more.

Similar area to you and we paid £80 for a set - bloomin ace farrier though so money really well spent imho. We've since had shoes off anyway (nothing to do with the capabilities of our farrier!) and now pay him £20 for a trim. Prob more £ per min as he really took his time over the shoeing, and there is barely anything for him to do when he trims them, I just like him to look over them and ensure all is well, then we just have a cup of tea and a natter!

£65 full set (but haven't had full sets for years so could have gone up)
£30 trim

Bath North East Somerset area.

Know of a couple of other farriers which cover my area but the one I have is so good (he will come and do them even if I can't make it, I just leave ponies in stable and he then lets them back into field when he has finished) that I wouldn't change just to save a bit of £.

Good lord! I think I am being robbed. I live on the somerset/devon border and have experienced 3 farriers in the last year, I have been charge £40 for a trim, £80 for front shoes which were side clip heartbars and I even had to ask him the trim back feet at the same time as I have had occasions when they do the fronts they dont bother trimming the hinds, and the best of all charged £20 to put one shoe back on ( tacked on cold) after vet took off because of abcess, and it fell off 4 days later. Starting to get really fed up, am now thinking on trying boots and only trimming as my bank account gets hammered every time a farrier vists. And they are all suppose to be good farriers for this area. Some of your prices are really cheap!

I just paid £65 for a full set of natural balance shoes. Not sure how much it would be with stud holes though.

£70 for heavy duty hand made ones, not the bought in ones that many use nowadays. Hence the price as it takes the farrier time to actually make the shoes at his home.

I pay £20 trim, £30 fronts and £60 for full, I know of a guy that is apparently very good, he is £10 a trim, £20 fronts and £45 full set but i forgot his name based in banbury i think.x

New Forest - £82 with road nails and one stud hole in each back foot! I think I'm being robbed! Don't get me wrong, my farrier is amazing and shoes for some top pros but I'm gonna move because I would give anything for £65 a set!:(

Reading- Berkshire

£69 full set. £1 per stud hole.

£19 trim

£10 if one shoe falls off and he comes out the same day

I love my farrier to bits :)

The best in my area charges £80 full set. Id use him but think thats a bit pricey and my farrier has always done a sterling job with my girl :)

I'm in Lincolnshire and have front shoes on for £26, my pony keeps them on very well and so he's done every 10-12 weeks, even then they are barely worn as I don't do much road work :)

£55 a full set
£40 re-fits
£15 a trim

If he loses one within a week he'll come back and do it for nothing (even if I can't find the shoe!) He's lovely and I've told him he's not allowed to retire!

My friend pays £70 for a full set from a different farrier who is considered better, but I don't really rate him so is not worth the extra cost.
