So after 2 months of searching for a farrier to shoe my pony, said farrier came and said he hasn't got enough foot for shoes.

he said not to do any roadwork and he'll come back in 2 weeks. what is the likelyhood that he will be able to do it next time? bearing in mind he hasn't had to have them trimmed since may. farrier said he will try and find some narrow shoes but im not hopeful. is there anything i can do in the mean time to help?

Was discussing the same problem with my long term farrier this week. Our pony has really rubbish feet that just crumble at this time of year. We are worried that he will end up with contracted heels if we continue to put shoes on him, therefore we have decided to remove the shoes and invest in a pair of old macs' this will hopefully allow some substantial horn regrowth. Not sure if thats much help, but its the plan of action we are taking with our pony!
