I ask because Be was only shod 10 days ago, and I noticed yesterday that I've done quite a bit of damage to them already

Am already wondering if she's going to make the 5 weeks!! (Jeez, I hate to think of the expense of shoeing two horses more frequently than that....

)

So, how much do you wear yours out??

Do you shoe frequently to stop the feet getting long, or because you actually wear them out?

Or do you often have refits??

Decided to try hoof boots as we have had two sets of shoes in two years and only had the second set because we lost one. We do quite a lot of road work

My cob feet grow so fast that in the summer months has to be shod every 4-5 weeks

he has refits quite alot, and is good at loseing front shoes, he is now into regular work as did not do much through the winter!

My daughters pony only has shoes on his front feet, but had the same shoes put back on 3 times and he is shod every 10 wks. He does do road work but not too much. Ponies have great hooves and never lose shoes either, Cheap!!! Cheap!!!!

LOL! Yup!

I guess my horses only tend to lose a shoe on average about once a year

I take it you are not so fortunate?!

Does your horse have poor feet then??!

Crikey!! Do you have to pay for that?? My farrier on the odd occassion he puts one back on doesn't tend to charge me, bless him!!

Don't rub it in......it's when you have to grovel to your farrier to put them back on......and they arrive and you grovel some more.....

I have to admit when I had her in the first livery yard, the farrier only use to use fewer nails to hold on the shoes and my mare was for ever losing shoes. But since moving her to the current yard, different farrier, she hasn't lost a shoe since.

I usually pay a tenner every other time

Jerry has excellent feet, but was the first time he had been shod and farrier has to clench up very quickly while we had a moment of standing still

they ahve stayed on well since

Hector has hopeless feet, very brittle and flat, my farrier dispairs everytime he pulls a shoe off, as there is nothing left to nail into, he lives in over reach boots and manages to pull a shoe off once a month

Cos' he thinks his God.....he is a good farrier......and my bl**dy cob is a expert at losing shoes.....and I also give him a tenner call out and a cup of tea(God that man can half drink tea!)

Patches is shod every four weeks for two reasons. Firstly she grows so much foot and secondly because I've worn them to a knife edge in that time.

Yep the big girl was shod 3 weeks ago, and could do with a new set pretty soon to be honest. The road work is the killer.

I had to have her done every four weeks last summer instead of the standard five.

Mine has shoes every 5 1/2 weeks, feet need trimming & the shoes are almost worn out....sometimes I ned the farrier earlier....he does alot of work
smile.gif

rarely wear shoes out, and pickle is shod every 10 weeks! he just has brilliant feet. We do zero roadwork though, allthough do hack regurlary

Don't his feet grow?????

dont usually grow very quickly then if they do he just has them done a bit earlier. All old owners have also said this, after 5 weeks there is no way he needs new shoes. Will take a piccie after 5 weeks just as an example
