10 yo. ISH mare (3/4 TB x 1/4 ID). Has very slow growing feet, to the point the farrier was having no fresh hoof to nail onto, so her walls were crumbling away and full of filler. She lost a shoe in the field a couple of months ago, and didn't seem bothered, so when the farrier came out 3 days later, we took them all off to give her feet a break over the winter. Undecided as yet whether to re-shoe or try and go barefoot. I have hoof boots as my other horse is barefoot.
Anyway, like a lot of other horses (going by another thread on here) she is struggling with the frozen ground. Also she is slightly lame on one - can you tell which one?
I'm feeding micronised linseed, rosehips and magnesium oxide.
She hasn't had a proper trim yet, my trimmer just gave her a "tickle round" 4 weeks ago when he came out to my other horse.
Expert opinions sought on what we are starting with, and what you might expect us to achieve - or not! (Sorry pix aren't great, the problems of balancing an iphone when holding a hoof).
