Shoes off...

So I've had my TB geldings shoes taken off (he only had fronts on) on Thursday, farrier was happy, but would appreciate any comments about the state of his feet. He's a bit tentative over uneven ground, but nothing significant... Apologies they're not the best and they're a bit muddy!!

Only really replying to bump it up for you - I'm not the best qualified on here, but I would say, lovely wide heels but frogs and heels look a little weak. Hard to tell,but CG's look shallow and sole looks thin. I think he 'may' be walking on his toes a bit at the moment - there is a bit of a ridge around the sole I don't like - is the pedal bone a bit close? (Video to look at hoof landing?) I might be inclined to use boots for a while, until more sole depth and heel landing is strong. However, the walls look decent, can't see flare or separation hiding under the mud wouldn't worry about the nick - road work will sort that out.
But really, not a bad starting point at all - I've seen far, far worse good luck - want see progress pics in a couple of weeks!

Hi there, you don't mention diet and management, you may need to change things to get improvements.
Photos are not the best, can you try a bit harder?

Diet wise, he's had ulcers so ultra low sugar/starch, literally just Dengie Hi-Fi non mollassed, ad-lib haylage (I know hay is better but no storage at my yard, however its very dry and excellent quality) he gets micronised linseed, alltech lifeforce & biotin.



He's out 24/7 unless really bad weather. I'm fairy well versed on 'management' my old mare had lami in ine foot and took a looooong time to get her unshod due to the level of damage in her bad foot (was caused by her confirmation & concussion). So I'm comfortable his diet is right.

Cragat- I think the 'ridge' my be the photo/light, as I'd definitely have noticed that... After all the experiences with my old mare, I'm constantly checking for an lami signs!
