I have a small pony who has just got over laminitis and has cushings. She is a lot more comfortable on her feet after a good trim but the farrier said that sometimes they find their front feet sore and so over compensate by putting more wieght on the back which can cause problems(she was worse on the back legs than the front which apparently is unusual) he suggested if she is still a little uncomfortable then to put front shoes on so she puts more weight on them. I do think she is finding the front a little uncomfortable at times on the hard ground and can stummble like she stood on a stone. What I want to know is if I should go with shoes or use boots for her, she is not ridden on the hard ground other than to get to the sand school and so I wonder if she really needs shoes ( she doesnt like them being put on) has anyone else used boots and what do you all think?
Thank you in advance
