I was speaking to my a farrier today and he informed me that there are special shoes avalible to help horses that are lame.he said they are kind of round shape and go round the hoof?? My mare is lame on her hind leg.it could be an option for me after seeing the specialist..

You need to know cause of her lameness before any remedial type of shoeing and would also be advisable for your vet and farrier to discuss which type of shoe to go with as well.

It was just that i was talking to a farrier today and explained my mares lameness and he suggested these shoes.we are going to see a specialist in a month so should know more then..

Defo find out why your horse is lame first so I wouldn't change shoes till you know. Shoes might mask a problem they dont tend to solve them. I knew an eventer with dodgy hocks the farrier put extensions on the out side of each hind shoe so the horse didnt twist his hocks as much when he walked. Worked fine for a while then had to be taken off as horse started to have pelvis problems that went when he went back to normal shoes. In his case he was best when moving the way he wanted.
If its a muscular problem bar shoes are even heavier than normal shoes so wouldnt think that would benifit.
