Just looked at one of these and wondered what other people's views are. It would be for driving me to work (10 mins down the road), going to the yard (20 mins down the road) and the occasional towing to local shows. I haven't got a trailer yet but we would need something for a 16hh+ horse. So are they any good at towing? Had thought of a Kia Sorrento but I can see out of the back window better in the Shogun. Any views welcome.

get one!!!!

the shogun sport is such value for money its untrue....we have got a '54 plate one which we bought as an ex demo, and it has not let us down once. great to tow, great to drive, decent motorway speeds, and very comfortable. and half the price of the tacky Discovery! unbelievable price really, and i dont think they're too bad to insure either (although no under 25s at most places).

only one bad point really: they have the turning circle of a boat!!!!

hope that helps

i had a shogun 2.8td lwb to tow my 16.3. not sure if a sport would be good big enough to do the job as you would need an ifor 510 or similar for 16hh+. bear in mind i used mine for everyday normal driving to work and yard and was only getting 25 miles to gallon. first month petrol bill was £550.00.

it depend i don't think it will tow a 510 and with 16hh+ horses that is what you would probably need. it is probably fine with 505. i used to tow my 505 with a 2.5td L200 and that was ok

I have you and love it!
Tows 2 horses in an Ifor fine

My OH uses it during the week to and from work and its a bit of a fight to get the keys of him!!!
Very comfortable to drive and looks really well! Ours is silver and the Equippe version.
Fuel consumption much the same as any 4x4!

no reason at all why it wouldnt tow a loaded 510 - it tows the wessex just fine, and they are the same size as the bigger ifor. no struggle at all!

when i had to buy a trailer i looked at all 4x4 as the mitsubishi was the nicest if you have to use it as your main car as well. i just felt that with an ifor510 and 2x 16.2hh+ i would of been better of with the LWB. it towed like a dream just a bit juicy on the diesel

Would highly recommend. I have the Shogun Sport Warrior - the smart black one with leather trim. It has been brilliant to tow my Ifor 510 with an 18.3hh horse in it - absolutely no problem at all. Turning circle is not he best, but you can't have everything!! Sadly my Shogun is for sale as I have managed to upgrade to a lorry - so back to driving a car
