Had our first Beaters day on the Estate today, next one is on Monday. Had a great day!

Birds flew well and everyone had a good few shots. I don't shoot these days, used to, but just went off it! I have a go on clays every now and then but would rather work my dogs! Few pics ....

Now, i must explain!! This is a keeper on the Estate. We are ALL very fun! A joke started at the beginning of the season re the 'mankini' (for those of you who have no idea - google it!) and this guy, promised he would 'streak' in mankini on beaters day ONLY IF enough money was raised at the Christmas raffle.... the money was raised!!!!!!!!! so ...... he did actually walk through the crop/woods etc beating in nothing but his mankini, shooting socks and boots ... all for fun! He was a bit cold by the time he made it down to us ... still you get the general idea!!!

They are gorgeous. I love Ellie in the first pic...she looks kind of matronly standing over her charges!!
 
Chilly! I hope there was some kind of first aid cover ready to assist with any frostbitten parts;):D:D:D

I must come beating with you next season, if only to meet some of the blokes you seem to shoot with:D:p
 
Lovely pics, but don't we get to see the mankini? I must say Ellie looks much better now she is getting a good nights sleep in her new bed, I take it she now has a few trophies to decorate it with.

I always look forward to your pics. In fact it was your pics that inspired me to have a go. I started beating with my ESS this season - she 3 now and never done it before but she is a natural. I adore it. We have a 5 month old pup that we are training and hope to do a few half days with next season.
 
Cor, hope someone had a stiff drink wiating for him after that - good for him though! :D

I've got beaters days this Fri and Sat - eek - i'm so excited, had a practice on some clays yesterday in the field as not shot for ages. Am now VERY bruised and sore :eek:

Ditto this, me and Dory are visiting you next year! No nice blokies on my shoot! :( :p :D

Ahh wow thats great to hear :D it's such a great hobby isn't it? Where are your pics then?! Best of luck with your young one, i've got a my lab and spaniel to train this summer - :eek: should be fun! :rolleyes:

I didn't manage to get any 'full view' pics but my OH did on his phone, said picture is now on facebook! (if you have an account and would like to add me LOL pm me!!)

She really loves her new bed. Dad said she's not keen on getting out of it in the mornings! :rolleyes: (bit like me then!!)
