Anyone been out beating/picking up yet?

I've been out once - dogs were surprisingly awesome .... Mostly on the partridge but we did a couple of pheasant drives.

I have a few pics but need to upload them. Anyone got any pics to share?

Decided not to do partridge, so started on the first of the month. Starts getting really busy the third week in October

Been up as far as Tavistock last season, all over, have regulars at St Austell, Newquay, Truro and Bodmin this year.

We have joined Tamar Association this year so hopefully will get to Devon a few times.

Been on a couple of goose shoots. No partridge round here. Pheasants dont really start till the end of the month. Can't wait. First date is 27th and then its two or three a week. Really looking forward to seeing how my new cocker gets on. O and losing some weight that I seem to have put on would be good too!!

Very jealous, never been to a goose shoot. I have a new spaniel this year, her first day is on Saturday, I'm quite excited

Beating and teal was actually really good. On a walk he bugs off after game (loads round here) but really listened while beating even if he showed his I need a tummy run because I'm a bit of a poof size in the trailer.... Back out on the 20th but hopefully picking up. Was going to try picking up partridge but he was broken

Stupid phone bit making sense, he wanted a tummy rub in the trailer. And looked like a poof as he picked on the guy next to me.

Glad the partridges and pheasants around our field get to live in peace and don't face getting shot for fun.

We had a day on partridge a couple of weeks ago. Took Holly pup for the first time - she loved it! She watched Purdey, my other Springer do a bit of picking up. We really went to go beating but helped pick up on the last drive so was very pleased with Purdey as she did 2 blind retrieves on birds that had fallen in the hedgerow.
Hopefully going on Saturday on our first pheasant shoot of the year. No pics yet - can't manage the camera and 2 dogs!
